Interview

Q: which aspect of development is the most impressive in your lifetime?

A: The first thing come to my mind is the smartphone. But smartphone means too many things, the development of smart device is inseparable with the internet and manufacturing technology. I can’t think of the most impressive development because they all come together, it feels like all the technologies around me are closely connected. For example, if smartphone without internet or maybe slower development of the internet as having 3G instead of 4G, the smartphone becomes “distasteful”, because you will feel the mismatch with all of the functions. Imaging that, you are using Siri under 3G network and it takes minutes to respond to your questions, this kind of technology will not impress you. So, in my point of view, all the technologies those in our daily life are impressive when compared with technologies in the past.

Q: As you said all the technologies around us are impressive compared to the past, what do you think those technologies will be like in 2040?

A: It is difficult because I was thinking of flying car in my primary school project of imaging the future 2018. As I said just now, I think more technologies will be connected as one in the future. It will like you actually can cook by using your smartphone or drive a car by brainwave.

Analysis

From the point of view above, humans seem are always difficult to be satisfied. The strong demand from us has driven the development of techniques. But in my opinion, the users of techniques are passive, because most of the innovative techniques have been invented while people being totally unaware of it. For example, people would never know how clunky the desk telephone is before the advent of the smartphone. We use the more efficient technique just in order to be synchronous with the society. Since that, the persons who possess advanced technologies will hold great sway.

In our scenario, the new techniques will much likelier be owned by the government. firstly, they need to solve overpopulation and pollution problems by the technology, such as the invention of birth control pill ‘annex’.  The government needs to hold the power of technology over the next several decades, in order to make citizens get used to adapting the upgrade of products passively. Therefore, the mandatory innovative technical means will become more acceptable at that time.

In addition, there is also a great reference from the interview: all the impressive inventions should be based on the demand of human and society, because people can only be persuaded by the advantage of it, such as the faster network, more efficient transportation, etc. The preferential policies or privilege can be provided in order to greatly stimulate audiences enthusiasm. That is how the technology could be promoted and accepted in the scenario of 2050.
